As an album, ‘Born This Way’ was the sound of someone trying to force a massive hat into a tiny car. It is a sprawling, ambitious album that shouted to be heard when everyone was already listening, but no other album in 2011 tried quite this hard to be amazing, and no other album succeeded in as many ways……So if it’s so imperfect, why is it Popjustice’s album of the year? ‘Born This Way’ is album of the year for one simple reason: it has more great stuff in it than any other album by any other artist in 2011. More bangs, more crashes, more mariachi band, more unicorns, more choirs, more “put your hands on me, John F Kennedy”, more hair, more filth, more fire, more sax, more sex, more crap pretend German, more “with you, with you, with you, with you, with you

this is so funny because you can see how genuine everyone is by their faces and how forced it is for nicki and rihanna by their faces.

Okay so I asked you guys just because I was thinking about how vivid all my Gaga memories are. I often don’t remember meeting people for the first time and stuff like that, but I can really precisely recall just about all of my Gaga memories with a lot of detail. I have also been thinking all that gay stuff about how meaningful she’s been to me because while I do not think she changed me, I wholeheartedly accept that she was THE vehicle through which I facilitated a lot of changes in my personality/goals/attitude in the last several years. I even developed such a critical eye through her, and I think that is really important. I am so grateful she turned out to be more talented than I ever could have wish for, and her integrity is honestly something to learn from.

For the record, my first Gaga memory was looking at a blog post in the first half of 2008 introducing her with a few tracks (“Rock Show” was one of them). From just that song, I sort of got where she was coming from and really appreciated the sense of darkness while talking about fame and glamour. From there I started following whatever she did, but I did not have anyone to talk to about it. Of course, then came tumblr, and here we are today. I’ve made great friends (and not just online ones) because of her, and basically the bitch has got me for life whether I like it or not. Anyway, here is what you guys (and Michael) put…

Everyone wanted [Born This Way] to be perfect. It was a bummer for me when everyone was saying it sounded like a Madonna song. If you know one thing about me, it is that I am absolutely not influenced by Madonna. I think it was bullshit to be honest. I guess there are a hundred songs that you could put a pitch shift and a BPM change on and loop and make them sound like anything. In addition, there are 5 songs on the radio right now that have the exact same chords and progression. Actually there are 5 songs out that are exactly the same song, on the radio at the same time. Right now. Why doesn’t anyone ever bring that up? That is a fucking felony. Lets talk about that! As an added note, how many people have been copying Gaga since she came out? Oh, I have that answer: everyone. Have you seen all the lightning bolts painted on faces, or the one hand eye cover ups during photos, or the exact same promo posters being put up as Gaga’s, or the new popularity of unicorns, or the copycat fake “Oh I’m so cool with the gay community” rhetoric? Or how about the fact that there was barely any dance music on the radio until “Just Dance” came out? Come on motherfuckers, let’s keep it real here. If we are going to talk about who is chasing who, I think we all know the answer to that. So yeah, she did something new, and people had to reach back 20+ years to find a song that could have possibly sounded like it, and that made news? Come on. And I get to watch people try and fuck Gaga all the time and steal her shit, but guess what? While you were out trying to make the music she made off The Fame, thinking she was making The Fame v2.0, she went and made some next shit for you to chase for the next 3 years. So, suck on that.

Lady Gaga was never going to show up at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno stadium on Sunday. But that didn’t stop dozens of fans from gathering outside the stadium for a rally against the increasing influence of Indonesia’s hard-line Islamist organizations.

Fans, known as “Little Monsters” placed flowers outside the stadium in a mock memorial service for “the death of freedom of expression in Indonesia.” Others staged a flash mob, dancing for seven minutes to a mix of the US pop star’s hits.

“We recorded [the rally] and uploaded it to the Internet so the world can see that not all Indonesians condone violence,” said Tria Meirina, one of the organizers of Sunday’s event.

Lady Gaga canceled her June 3 concert amid threats from the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), a hard-line Islamist organization. The National Police were cautious about issuing the concert a permit after the FPI threatened to storm the concert and “do what they must to stop the show.”

Ravi Agustiana came to Sunday’s demonstration after spending her entire savings on a ticket.

“I was so disappointed and sad when I heard that Gaga’s concert was canceled,” the 19 year-old said adding that she came on Sunday to ease the pain of not being able to see the singer live.

Fia Rahmatia, of Bandung, West Java, said she spread word of the rally through the Twitter account @IndoProGaga.
